CREATIVE DESIGNS SUPPORTS BARBADOS' YOUTH

Bridgetown, Barbados, November 7, 2011 - Two students from the St. Lucy Secondary School participating in the CARICOM Vocational Qualification (CVQ) programme will get the opportunity to blend academic concepts with practical application.

Creative Designs Building Construction (Barbados) Ltd., a leader in the Construction Industry, is continuing its partnership arrangement with the St. Lucy Secondary School by providing job attachments to two students who are committed to gaining accreditation in the CVQ programme.
Daniel Samuels and Ferdinand Cadogan, students of the masonry and carpentry trades will work for a four-month internship period alongside seasoned and highly qualified practitioners employed by the Company.  During this period, they will be exposed to some of the Company's cutting edge technology methods and will learn first hand how what they learn in the classroom can be put into practice.
According to Dr. Anselm LaTouche, President of Creative Designs, we are building on the relationship we have established with the school as well as with other training institutions in Barbados and Grenada.  Assisting Caribbean youth achieve their academic goals is as much their priority as it is ours.
"There is no question that global challenges have negatively impacted the construction industry.  We know these are difficult times.  What we cannot, however, allow to happen is that our youth see no hope for the future and that training and development for them is put on the back burner until we turn the corner.   As a company we are committed to doing our part to ensure that this Region continues to produce skilled workers with the ability to work in a global marketplace," he said.
The role of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council is to establish standards and qualifications for technical and vocational education and training as mandated by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act, 1993-11 of the Laws of Barbados.

Creative Designs, through this partnership with St. Lucy Secondary School, supports the school?s efforts in the full implementation of the CVQ programme.
